It’s a day in the nerdfigher fandom dedicated to a girl named Esther who died of cancer (august 3rd was her birthday), she was a good friend of John Green and greatly influenced his life and writing. 

She proclaimed that she wanted her birthday to be a day that celebrated love between families and friends. Like a different kind of Valentines Day.
